Why Sarasvatī

Data Darśana is a map of the data an enterprise needs to thrive with AI. But the name, the emblem, and even the number of its views were chosen with care — in the spirit of Sarasvatī, deity of knowledge, speech, music and flow.

Knowledge is the one wealth that grows the more it is shared.

The stanceA goddess of understanding, not of power

Sarasvatī is worshipped not for wealth or dominion, but for vidyā — knowledge, learning, and clear speech. Hers is the one form of abundance you cannot hoard: give it away and it multiplies; hold it back and it withers. Old wisdom put it plainly — knowledge is the wealth no thief can take, and it increases in the giving.

That is exactly the stance this project takes toward data in the AI era. The model is vendor-neutral, open, and free to learn from — a shared way of seeing, not a product to be gated. In an age when data is often locked away as advantage, choosing to make understanding open is itself a small act of reverence for what Sarasvatī represents.

The symbolsHer form reads like an ethic for building with AI

Every element the goddess carries turns out to be quiet guidance for how intelligence — human or artificial — should be held.

Vīṇā · music

She holds an instrument, not a weapon. Knowledge tuned toward harmony, never toward force.

Pustaka · the book

Always open. Learning is never finished — the palm-leaf is never closed and put away.

Akṣamālā · the rosary

Wisdom needs practice and rhythm, not just information. Understanding is a discipline, bead by bead.

Śveta-padma · white lotus

Clarity that rises unstained out of muddy water — insight drawn cleanly from messy, tangled data.

Haṃsa · the swan

Viveka — the fabled power to separate milk from water. Discernment is the very skill AI most needs from us.

The river · sarasvatī

She began as a river. Knowledge is meant to flow and nourish what it passes — not to pool and stagnate.

White raiment · sattva

Calm, clarity, balance — the quality of sattva. It is why this model takes no side and favours no vendor: it tries only to see clearly.

Seven notes, one songAnd so — seven views

Sarasvatī is Vīṇā-vādinī, she who plays the seven svarasSa Re Ga Ma Pa Dha Ni. Seven notes are not seven songs; they are one music heard from seven positions. This is the honest thread to the goddess: not a claim of scripture, but the truth that a single reality is richer when you can hear it more than one way.

Data Darśana offers seven views of one underlying taxonomy — the same 248 capabilities and 128 archetypes, played in seven keys. Change the view and no fact changes; only your vantage does.

There is an eighth reading, and it is a reading of time rather than of structure: the same archetypes sorted by the work they serve and the generation they belong to — proven, mainstream, frontier. It sits inside the tables rather than beside the seven, because it changes no fact either. It only admits that a discipline has a past, and that the past is often still the right answer.

The intentBringing AI closer to how we mean to live

We build so much technology in the language of extraction — capture, lock-in, advantage. Sarasvatī offers a different vocabulary: learn, share, grow together. To place a data model under her name is to hold ourselves to that softer, older standard — to treat intelligence as something we cultivate in the open and pass on, rather than something we merely accumulate.

If AI is to be woven into how we work and decide, then the values we bring to it matter as much as the models. Curiosity over certainty. Discernment over speed. Generosity over gatekeeping. That is the whole intent behind this map — a small attempt to keep something spiritual close as we build, so that what we make helps us understand more, and one another better.

Offered with humility, as a homage — not as a claim of scripture. We reach toward the sacred only to borrow its ethic: that intelligence, human or artificial, is worthiest when it helps us learn, share, and grow together.
